| 1. |
What are Vinyl Fence Creations building
products made of? |
| |
The base ingredient is rigid PVC (Polyvinyl
Chloride) homopolymer compound with a high level of titanium
dioxide (TiO2) pigment for long term, ultraviolet (UV)
light resistance and impact modifiers for superior strength.
The formulation is similar to that of vinyl siding and
windows, which have a long history of providing long-term
durability and structural integrity. |
| 2. |
What is the warranty on Vinyl Fence Creations products? |
| |
All of our products carry a manufacturers
lifetime warranty. |
| 3. |
Will Vinyl Fence Creations products crack,
chip, peel, rot, fade, turn yellow or deteriorate like
resin patio furniture? |
| |
No. Vinyl Fence Creations products
contain titanium dioxide (TiO2), which prevents ultraviolet
degradation. All of Vinyl Fence Creations products carry
the manufacturers lifetime warranty against discoloration
and have been field proven to maintain their color. The
warranty also covers surface cracking, peeling, chipping,
rotting or fading. |
| 4. |
How do Vinyl Fence Creations products withstand
the wind? |
| |
Vinyl Fence Creations fences are
designed to withstand normal wind load. We have certified
structural engineering showing the fence will withstand
90 mph winds and wind tunnel tests to 110 mph without
any internal post support. Greater wind load resistance
can be easily accomplished using internal supports. |
| 5. |
Do Vinyl Fence Creations products expand
or become brittle in winter? |
| |
It is normal for vinyl materials to
expand and contract during temperature changes. Our designs
and fabrication methods will allow for expansion and contraction
during the installation process. As with most PVC products,
vinyl will become less flexible in colder weather conditions.
However, unless subjected to unusual impact it will not
break or crack. |
| 6. |
Are Vinyl Fence Creations products maintenance-free? |
| |
The vinyl
product requires a limited amount of maintenance.
As with all exterior products, our fencing can become
dirty when exposed to the elements. A mild detergent
and water should be sufficient to keep your fence
or deck rail looking new. Under normal conditions
this maintenance is in the form of washing the fence
to keep it looking new. For tough stains, “Soft
Scrub” or baking soda works well. Simple Green
and 0000 steel wool (super fine) also works to clean
stubborn stains.
Although not classified as
graffiti proof, vinyl fencing is fairly easy to clean
and most graffiti comes off with just a little effort.
Often, the graffiti can be removed with “Simple Green” detergent
and a soft cloth. In more severe cases you can use
0000 steel wool (super fine) either by itself or
with Simple Green or, in extreme cases, use lacquer
thinner and dry quickly with a soft cloth. |
| 7. |
Will vinyl burn? |
| |
PVC has a flash point of approximately
900 degrees and does not easily ignite. Vinyl is classified
as “Self Extinguishing”. |
| 8. |
What is “Virgin Vinyl”? |
| |
This is 100% new vinyl with UV inhibitors
and impact modifiers throughout the entire product. |
| 9. |
Why are no dark colors available? |
| |
TIO2 is the main ultraviolet (UV) inhibitor
and is naturally very white in color. Because of this
it is difficult to obtain a dark color while having the
required amount of this white pigment. Dark colors also
retain a significant amount of heat. There is limited
modern technology to allow the heat to dissipate. |
| 10. |
Do you cement the posts? |
| |
It is common to cement fence posts.
Postholes should typically be twice the diameter of the
post. |
| 11. |
Will it mildew or collect mold? |
| |
Vinyl products will when subjected
to extended damp weather collect mold and mildew. However,
because they are non-porous they are easily cleaned with
a solution of mild household detergent and water. |
| 12. |
What is the cost of the product compared
to wood? |
| |
The cost of the product is amazingly
similar when compared to a comparable quality wood product
such as #1 grade clear cedar or “A” grade
redwood. Vinyl is especially cost-effective for the long
term because it does not require the surface preparation,
priming, painting, and ongoing maintenance as is needed
with wood. |
| 13. |
Can you use it as a porch or balcony railing? |
| |
When properly designed, our vinyl products
make very stable ground-level porch and deck rail systems
as well as balcony applications. |
| 14. |
Can I get custom styles made? |
| |
Virtually any style that can be made
out of wood or ornamental iron can be made out of vinyl.
The styles are only limited by your imagination. |
| 15. |
How tall can I make a fence? |
| |
We can typically make the fence as
tall as clients request, within the scope of local building
codes. It is recommended, however, that any fence over
6’ tall have the posts reinforced. |
| 16. |
How are the fences constructed? |
| |
We build the fences by routing and
interlocking the different fencing parts together. Routed
and interlocked members will never pull apart or fail. |
| 17. |
Does Vinyl Fence Creations use screws or
brackets during construction? |
| |
We never use unsightly nails, visible
screws or brackets that cheapen the look of a fence. Our
fences have no unsightly marks at all! And our vinyl material
has a smooth satin finish. The result is fencing that's
suited for the most prestigious properties. |
